Ahh, the winter months: they can be so cozy, beautiful, and nostalgic. Here in Central Oregon, we've had a fairly mild winter so far with very little snow, but it's still super dry and cold. And the unwanted visitor during this season? Dry, dull, and flaky skin - something we all deal with during these colder months. Here are our top tips for keeping your skin glowing all the way to summer:
- Stay hydrated from within! This can be more challenging and harder to remember when its not super hot outside, but hydration is important year-round, and if you're dehydrated, it shows on your skin. Try hot herbal teas and warm bone broth for hydration that keeps things interesting.
- Light exfoliation. But don't over-do it! Reach for something like our Matcha Mask which gently exfoliates (with papaya and pumpkin extracts) yet also delivers deep moisture with a blend of botanical oils. Leave it on for 3-5 minutes, then remove with a hot damp towel for maximum results.
- Use a gentle cleanser or consider oil cleansing. Both our Coconut & Aloe Cleanser and Neroli Gel Cleanser have gentle, nourishing ingredients that won't strip your skin barrier. Be sure to use very little water in the cleansing process and remove with esthetics sponges or a hot towel. The ritual of oil cleansing is also awesome in the winter because it provides a thorough cleanse while still maintaining your skin barrier and leaving a nice layer of moisture on your skin, avoiding any chance for stripping of the skin in the cleansing process. Reach for our Black Spruce Body Oil as an oil cleanser and be sure to remove it with a hot towel.
- Layering is your bestie in the winter! Start with a generous amount of our Prickly Pear Face Oil, then layer either our Blue Tansy Cream or Sandalwood Cream over the top. Feeling extra dry? Dab a bit of Cocoa Eye Butter into either of our creams for an extra boost of moisture.
